The Intel Core Ultra, a revolutionary processor built on Intel's efficient 4nm Intel technology, is at the vanguard of Intel's announcements. The outstanding feature is its dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), which ushers in a new era of AI capabilities that promise to change PCs.
The Core Ultra incorporates CPU and GPU advancements, providing nearly 2x more power-efficient AI acceleration than its predecessors. The goal is to serve various AI applications, providing features such as fast video editing.
Initial performance tests demonstrate considerable advantages, such as 40% faster video editing in Adobe Premier Pro when compared to competitor CPUs. In 2023, the market may expect around 230 laptops and PCs powered by the Core Ultra to join.
Intel anticipates obtaining a significant market share, potentially accounting for 80% of the market in the future years as AI becomes a vital component for professionals.
New Xeon Processors for Cloud and 5G Edge AI
Intel has unveiled the 5th generation Xeon scalable processor designed for cloud and edge data centres. These CPUs include built-in acceleration to handle AI workloads efficiently. The Xeon processors consistently win in MLPerf AI benchmarks, with up to 42% better inferencing throughput.
Partners' real-world testing showed up to 2.7x quicker AI query performance and a 36% increase in throughput per watt. Intel has deliberately positioned its Xeon processors to support emergent 5G use cases like smart retail and autonomous factories.
Next-Gen Gaudi3 AI Accelerator
Intel provides a tantalizing insight into its upcoming flagship AI accelerator, dubbed Gaudi3. The Gaudi3 is designed to enable deep learning and language models at scale, building on the success of previous Gaudi accelerators. Intel hopes to gain a larger part of the high-growth accelerator industry, which is expected to develop further through 2025.
